Anchor mortar consumption

Spiral Anchor Calculator – Precise Structural Reinforcement

The spiral anchor calculator is a tool that allows for accurate planning of the placement and quantity of spiral anchors to effectively reinforce cracks and damages in masonry and concrete structures. Thanks to this calculator, engineers and contractors can optimize material usage and ensure the long-term stability of buildings.

How does the calculator work?

The calculator requires basic information about the type of structure, anchor parameters, and the specifications of the crack. Using this data, it generates detailed guidelines regarding the width and depth of the cuts (grooves) as well as the amount of materials needed to complete the work.

Required input data

  1. Type of material – brick or concrete:
Brick: Spiral anchors are spaced 50 cm on each side of the crack (100 cm total).
Concrete: The distance is 30 cm on each side of the crack (60 cm total).

  2. Spiral Anchor Diameter Hammpack® [mm]
    Available diameters: 6, 8, 10 mm
The most commonly used diameter is 8 mm – universal for most applications.

After selecting the anchor diameter, the calculator automatically generates:

Groove width [mm] – the groove opening (spiral anchor diameter + 4 mm)
Groove depth [mm] – how deep to cut into the main wall material (brick, concrete).

    * If there is plaster or a finishing layer on the surface, you need to account for additional depth for that layer.

    • Total anchor length (perpendicular to the crack – depends on the material) [cm]

Brick: Spiral anchors are spaced 50 cm on each  side of the crack (100 cm total).
Concrete: The distance is 30 cm on each side of the crack (60 cm total).

  3. Distance between anchors (range: 30–45 cm) [cm]
You can cut grooves into both the mortar joints and the solid wall.

  4. Number of wall cracks (in linear meters)
Provide the total length of cracks or gaps that require reinforcement.

Results and calculations

  • 🔧 Total length of spiral anchors (in linear meters)
The calculator automatically determines the amount of anchors needed to reinforce the crack, based on the spacing between them and the total crack length.

  • 🔧 Consumption of ResinBau® AnkerBau mortar (in kg)
The tool indicates how much mortar is required to fill the grooves and embed the spiral anchors.

  • 🔧 Depth and width of the grooves
The calculator provides the design values that enable you to create grooves with the appropriate dimensions, suited to the anchor diameter and the construction material.

Practical tips

  • Remember to deepen the groove when there is plaster or a finishing layer – the anchor should be embedded at the correct depth in the main structural material.
  • In the case of irregular cracks – adjust the spacing between anchors based on the size and extent of the damage. For corner reinforcement, see the “Spiral Anchors” guide.
  • Cut into mortar joints where possible – this minimizes interference with the brick or concrete structure.
