Local leaks and seepage
Water stopping in concrete, masonry or stone after cleaning and preparing the area. The TDS covers, among other things, underground, hydraulic and sewer structures.
LOCAL WATER STOPPING
Fast-setting cement for manually stopping local leaks. Dry powder is rubbed or pressed into the damp zone; contact with water initiates setting.
| Form / objective | Dry cement mortar for local water stopping |
|---|---|
| Delivery method | Manual rubbing or pressing onto a damp substrate |
| Setting | On contact with water; the TDS states a start time of approximately 10 s |
| Application temperature | Material, ambient and substrate temperature +5 to +30°C |
Read values together with the temperature, material state and test conditions.
| Setting on contact with water at 7°C | 3–10 s according to the TDS |
|---|---|
| Setting at 25°C | Immediately during rubbing, according to the TDS |
| Adhesion | ≥ 0.8 MPa; test method and specimen age not stated |
| Indicative consumption | 1–1.6 kg/m² for a 1 mm layer |
The very short setting time refers to contact with water. Prepare access and a small quantity before application. Mortar parameters are not a declaration that the entire repair withstands every water pressure.
First establish the repair objective, substrate condition, presence of water and joint movement.

Locally limiting outflow allows the remaining water path to be assessed and further sealing to be selected. Stopping a leak at one point does not confirm watertightness of the entire barrier.
LeakFix acts locally and forms a rigid closure. It does not replace a flexible filling in a moving gap or a continuous barrier inside a structure. For high inflow, select a way to control the water and retain the material in place.
Contact with water triggers setting; the product is used in a damp zone. Rigid local closure; not flexible joint sealing.

Work sequence after assessing the structure and selecting the method. Full requirements are given in the product instructions.
Remove loose parts, dust, sludge and contaminants. Roughen the substrate; thoroughly wet dry areas.
Wear the gloves required in the product documentation. Apply dry powder by rubbing or pressing it into the damp area. Do not derive a universal water-mixing recipe from the setting time.
Apply quickly and maintain pressure until set. On a warm substrate, reaction may begin while rubbing.
Protect fresh mortar from wind, draughts and sunlight. The TDS recommends curing with water at a temperature close to ambient; check whether the leak has appeared nearby.
