CONSOLIDATION AND SOIL WATER BARRIERS

SoilConsolid

Low-viscosity, water-reactive PU resin for soil consolidation and creating water barriers. Adding SoilConsolid CAT allows the reaction time to be adjusted.

Key parameters
Product / pumpPU resin + CAT; delivery through a 1K pump
Resin / mixture viscosity25 mPa·s at 20°C
Resin density1.10 g/cm³ at 20°C
Reaction requirementWater or moisture in the injection zone
Application temperatureMinimum +5°C

2% CAT by volume — 20 ml/l of resinStart 2 min; end 3 min
1% CAT by volume — 10 ml/l of resinStart 5 min; end 6 min

Strength after 6 weeksCompressive 12 MPa; flexural 2 MPa

Reaction times refer to a test at 20°C with 10% water. These are test conditions, not water to be added to the pump tank. The TDS does not describe the full specimen formulation and test method alongside the strength results; do not attribute these values directly to the soil.

Storage and shelf life
+10 to +30°C; 12 months in the original, unopened packaging.

Applications and selection criteria

First establish the repair objective, substrate condition, presence of water and joint movement.

01

Soil consolidation

Select the technique for grading, porosity and the presence of water. Low viscosity assists delivery but does not demonstrate penetration throughout the required zone.

02

Water barriers in soil

Horizontal or vertical zones limiting flow require a plan for continuity, staging and assessment of the result. Select the injection point arrangement after analysing the soil.

Application conditions and limitations

Selection requires assessment of soil, water, voids and loads. Resin specimen parameters are not the capacity of the strengthened soil. Confirm injection extent, quantity and effect through a trial and the adopted monitoring programme; a pressure increase alone does not confirm completion. The material requires water to react. In dry conditions, first establish the application conditions; a higher catalyst dose alone does not replace this assessment.

How the material behaves

Requires contact with water or moisture; temperature and water quantity affect the reaction. Cured filling for consolidation; do not assign expansion-joint flexibility.

Preparation and application

Work sequence after assessing the structure and selecting the method. Full requirements are given in the product instructions.

  1. Analyse the soil and objective

Distinguish between stabilisation and creating a water barrier. Determine available space, flow paths and the monitoring method.

  2. Mix the resin with CAT

Select catalyst dosage by volume relative to the resin. TDS selection range: up to 5% CAT; confirm the dose through a trial, without interpolating unspecified times.

  3. Inject with a 1K pump

Start at the lowest practicable pressure that provides flow. Observe quantity, reaction and soil behaviour; do not increase pressure without assessing the material path.

  4. Verify the result and clean the system

Link completion checks to the task objective. Protect the resin supply from moisture. Select cleaning for the product and equipment before material cures in the system.
