KNOWLEDGE · INJECTION PROCEDURE

Pressure and observation

The inside of the fissure is hidden. Assess injection progress using several signals together: pressure, flow, injected quantity and material communication between points.

Gentle startFlow controlObservation points
Discharge at an adjacent point confirms a connection between locations. It does not prove complete filling of the entire crack.

STARTING INJECTION

Start from zero.
Increase gradually.

Start adjustment from zero in accordance with the pump's operating instructions. Increase the setting gradually until material starts flowing. Then assess uptake and structural behaviour; increase pressure only when necessary. Establish the operating range for the task and the entire assembly.

Low valve opening pressure facilitates a gentle start. “From zero” describes the adjustment procedure — it does not mean flow through every valve at zero pressure.

MEASUREMENT AND THE STRUCTURE

The gauge measures pressure at the measurement point

During flow, the hose, coupling, valve and packer channel create resistance. The reading at the pump is not automatically the pressure in the crack. The injection nipple opening threshold and accessories' maximum pressure are not recommended settings for the structure either.

Before injection, plan observation and venting points. They should allow water and arriving material to be identified. Adapt how they are closed to the system. Secure packer installation and the valve's backflow seal limit uncontrolled escape.

OBSERVATION DURING WORK

Combine signals before drawing a conclusion

Pressure and injection rate

Observe them together. A pressure rise without injection requires investigation, not an automatic increase in the setting.

Quantity and time

Record injected material and time. The decrease in the tank does not determine the amount remaining in the repair zone. Account for temperature and changing resin properties.

Communication between points

Observe the sequence of discharges. Lack of communication may result from geometry, blockage or material behaviour; alone, it does not establish the cause.

Substrate response

Monitor new discharge paths, packer installation and structural changes. Establish stopping criteria during the trial, appropriate to the repair objective.

A concerning signal?
Stop and check.

A sudden pressure rise without injection, high uptake without expected progress, uncontrolled discharge, packer movement or substrate damage require injection to stop and the cause to be identified.

Before disconnecting equipment, stop the pump and depressurise the system according to its instructions. Check the material, injection path, installation and conditions within the structure. Resume work after correcting the cause.

Plan material injection and monitoring

Combine structural assessment, resin selection and the injection procedure.
