Water-bearing cracks and joints
Sealing concrete and masonry to limit water migration. Assess the continuity of the gap and whether the gel can be retained until it sets.
WATERPROOFING • ACRYLIC GEL
Four-component system for flexible sealing of cracks, joints and curtain injection. The ResinBau AcrylGel + Polymer variant is also selected for movement joints, interfaces and injection hoses.
| Product / components | Four components prepared in two separate containers |
|---|---|
| Delivery method | 2K pump: (A1 + A2) and (B1 + B2) |
| Viscosity of the mixture with water | 5–15 mPa·s at 20°C; this is not a parameter of the Polymer variant |
| State after reaction | Soft, flexible hydrogel |
| Minimum application temperature — water variant | +2°C |
| CE marking | CE marking indicated in the manufacturer's declaration of performance for concrete injection. |
Read values together with the temperature, material state and test conditions.
| A1 — viscosity at 20°C | 5–30 mPa·s; depending on the test method |
|---|---|
| A2 — viscosity at 20°C | Below 100 mPa·s |
| Mixture (A1 + A2) + (water + B2) | Viscosity 5–15 mPa·s at 20°C; pH 6.0–7.5 |
| Reaction adjustment | Select the quantities of A2 and B2, then test at the application temperature |
| Contact with water after curing | Reversible volume changes during hydration and drying |
The properties of the water variant and the Polymer variant must be considered separately. A specimen elongation result does not determine the permissible movement of a movement joint. Do not use the density of the complete gel as the density of component B1.
First establish the repair objective, substrate condition, presence of water and joint movement.
Sealing concrete and masonry to limit water migration. Assess the continuity of the gap and whether the gel can be retained until it sets.
ResinBau AcrylGel + Polymer requires preparation and containment of the filling zone. The movement range, sealing depth and protection against drying must be selected for the joint.
The water or Polymer variant is selected according to the soil, flow and available voids. Low viscosity alone does not confirm a continuous barrier; a trial and monitoring of the injected quantity are required.
A joint-sealing method specified in the TDS. Check the hose system requirements, section length and flushing options; the reaction time must allow the material to pass through.
ResinBau AcrylGel + Polymer may be selected for horizontal injection and sealing of masonry to interrupt capillary water transport. Assess absorbency, thickness and voids, and confirm continuity of the injection zone in a trial. Select reaction time, distribution and protection against drying or washout for masonry conditions.
The instructions provide for soil stabilisation with acrylic gel. Selection requires assessment of grading, water, flow and penetrability, plus a trial in the actual ground. Set stabilisation criteria and durability in the design; curing of flexible gel does not determine design soil bearing capacity.
The hydrogel is intended for sealing; do not treat it as a rigid, load-transferring bond. Where flow is strong, first limit material washout. Swelling after hydration is a different phenomenon from foaming during reaction. Drying may change the volume and flexibility of the Polymer variant as well.
Water or Polymer option; account for hydration, drying and washout after curing. Flexible gel; movement capacity must be selected for the joint and does not follow from specimen elongation.
A1 + A2 and B1 + B2
The two mixtures begin to react
Hydrogel; volume depends on hydration
Work sequence after assessing the structure and selecting the method. Full requirements are given in the product instructions.
Choose water or the appropriate Polymer as B1. Prepare a trial under site conditions; consider temperature, flow, environmental pH and transit time through the hoses.
Mix A1 with A2 in the first container. Prepare B1 with B2 in the second. Dose A2 relative to the mass of A1, and B2 relative to the mass of B1. Match the volume of B1 to the volume of A1 + A2; the calculator disregards the volume increase from B2 powder.
A stainless-steel 2K pump is standard. The prepared streams are delivered at a 1:1 ratio by volume. Four components do not require four pump circuits.
Check the gel time before injection. The TDS recommends flushing with water during any pause longer than half the set reaction time and after completion. A leaking passage in the mixing head may cause the components to combine prematurely.
In a 2K system, clean and flush the entire delivery system with water before the material sets. Continue flushing until clean water comes out of the pump.
It may only be considered with an extended reaction time, appropriate experience and the ability to prepare, inject and clean the system before setting. It is not an equivalent default configuration.
