KNOWLEDGE · CONSTRUCTION JOINT SEALING

Injection hoses.
Access to the joint.

The hose remains in the structure, while accessible ends allow material to be injected later into the prepared section. Plan layout, connections and access before concreting.

EXPLORE THE METHOD

Hoses: new joint and reconstruction after repair

The first illustration shows preparation of a new construction joint. Further illustrations concern an existing wall and a reinstated floor. Longitudinal and double layouts are alternatives; inspection, access and subsequent injection must be planned for the selected system.

New construction joint option. Prepare the hose, fixings and accessible feed lines before the next concrete pour.

01 · New construction joint

New joint: prepare the future injection path

The injection hose distributes material along the joint. Feed lines connect its ends to accessible injection points, while a separate pump hose connects the equipment. These three elements have different functions.

Prepare the substrate, lay the hose without kinks and fix it according to system instructions. Label both section ends and record the route before covering. Embedding the hose in concrete creates access for future injection; it does not yet create a seal.

  • Check contact, fixings and connections.
  • Retain access to both ends after concreting.

02 · Reconstruction of an existing joint

Reconstruction A: layout along the exposed joint

This drawing concerns repair and reconstruction of an existing joint. After breakout, a strip beside the wall is exposed and prepared before floor reinstatement. Do not present this scene as the first casting of a new wall.

The longitudinal layout provides a planned injection path within the repair area. Match section length and route to the specific hose, geometry and reinstatement method. The hose supplements the repair plan; it does not replace leak assessment.

  • First prepare and assess the existing joint.
  • Distinguish the working section from feed lines.

03 · Reconstruction of an existing joint

Reconstruction B: double layout

The double layout, termed “crosswise”, is an alternative hose route in the prepared area. It is not a mandatory next stage after the longitudinal layout.

Check whether the selected system permits this arrangement: bend radii, contact, fixings, working section continuity and section-end labels. The illustration does not define universal lengths, spacing or resin consumption.

  • Do not crush the hose at direction changes.
  • Match the route to the planned sealing zone.

04 · Reconstruction of an existing joint

Check installation before floor reinstatement

Before covering, check the route, fixings and connections. Protect feed lines from damage and contamination, and assign their ends to a specific section. The drawing shows an existing wall and a floor strip being reinstated.

Record the repaired joint condition and system layout. After concreting, without this documentation, sections are difficult to distinguish and hose routes difficult to reconstruct.

  • Assess the completed repair's watertightness before covering.
  • Record both ends of every section.
The reinstated floor covers the hose, while labelled feed lines remain accessible beside the wall.

05 · Using the prepared access

Preserve access and select the material for use

When injection is first needed, identify the system and section and confirm the approved material and injection method. Filling the hose and injection material entering the joint are separate stages. Material at the other end confirms communication through the hose, not watertightness of the entire connection.

Select ResinBau AcrylGel + Polymer and CrackFlex for the system and joint conditions. HydroGum and EasyInject may also be considered following individual selection and a trial: check distribution, water availability and confinement of expansion. Re-injection after use depends on the hose, material and how work is completed; none of these choices alone guarantees it.

  • Check instructions for the hose and selected material.
  • Prepare appropriate flushing before starting work.

ROLE AND SYSTEM COMPONENTS

A prepared path
for material injection

The injection hose is laid in the joint before the next concreting stage. Embedding it alone does not create a seal — it enables injection into a planned zone.

The injection hose distributes material within the joint. Feed lines run from its ends to accessible injection points. The pump hose connects the equipment to such a point. These elements serve different functions; they require compatible connectors and operating conditions.

BEFORE CONCRETING

Lay, fix and label sections

Every section has its own start and end. Retain the ability to locate and connect them after the structure is completed.

The braided section is fixed to the substrate, while feed lines lead to accessible ends. Select connections for the specific system. Illustrative diagram, not to scale.
  1. 01 / SUBSTRATE

    Prepare the joint

Remove loose fragments and contamination. Ensure hose contact with the prepared concrete.

  2. 02 / LAYOUT

    Secure the route

Route the hose without kinks or crushing. Fixings must maintain its position during concreting.

  3. 03 / CONNECTIONS

    Label both ends

Select connectors for line diameters. Secure connections and assign ends to the specific section.

  4. 04 / INSPECTION

    Check before covering

Inspect fixings and access to ends. Record the section route in as-built documentation.

THE HAMMPACK SYSTEM SHOWN

Layout dimensions and section division

The drawing presents principles adopted for the HAMMPACK arrangement shown. Check section and fixing dimensions for the selected hose; coordinate its structural position with the waterproofing design.

Values apply to the system shown, not all injection hoses. Working length excludes feed lines. Overlap and spacing between sections are separate dimensions; a position at ⅓–½ of element thickness requires agreement with the design. Diagram not to scale.

FUTURE ACCESS

First injection
and reuse

First injection may only be carried out after concreting, when sealing is needed. The hose then provides the previously prepared material injection path.

Re-injection after use requires a system and medium that permit it. How the previous work was completed and retained clear passage also matter. Accessible ends alone do not confirm re-injection is possible.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Consider the system
and joint conditions

Identify the hose, section and approved materials. Select resin and pump for the repair objective, water presence, viscosity and material working time. Check clear passage using the method specified for that system.

Filling the hose and injecting material into the construction joint are separate stages. Material at the other end confirms passage through the section, not complete joint sealing. Monitor uptake, pressure and discharges. Flush and close according to hose and medium requirements.

FROM METHOD TO SYSTEM

Instructions, quantities and an application example

The HAMMPACK calculator counts sections, hose including overlaps, feed lines and installation components. It shows rolls and remainder; it does not calculate resin consumption or an allowance for installation waste.
